Lord of Life respects the COVID sensitivity of its members and guests, especially those young and old that cannot be vaccinated. To accomplish this, the taskforce prepared a two-step approach to releasing the COVID restrictions to match the State of Illinois’ Phase 5 as well as the ELCA guidelines. Phase 5A will start June 13. 5B will start July 11.
For Phase 5A: If the number of COVID cases remains low:
It will not be necessary to take temperatures and worshippers need not sign in for contact tracing.
Most of the pews will be returned to the center aisles of the sanctuary while half of the pews will be returned to the side aisles to allow for social distancing.
Masks will still be required in the sanctuary.
Coffee will not be served.
There will be no capacity limits in the sanctuary and classrooms.
The shield on the lectern was removed.
Waving to share God’s peace will be continued.
The offering plate will remain at the back of the sanctuary.
Worshippers will walk to receive prepackaged communion packet and partake of communion in their seats.
Phase 5B elements will be determined at the next meeting. We will also review the outside service at that time.
