Lenten Season

Shrove (Fat) Tuesday-Ash Wednesday-Lent

This year the congregation of Christ Lutheran Church will share the following events and services with Lord of Life and Prince of Peace.

Shrove (Fat) Tuesday, February 17, 6:00 p.m. at Lord of Life.

The evening begins with burning the Palm Branches. This includes a brief service that shares why we do this. After the service there will be a potluck of Sloppy Joes with sides and desserts. Lord of Life will furnish the Sloppy Joes and you are welcome to bring a side or a sweet treat to add to the food fun. We celebrate emptying our shelves of the foods that are rich or fatty to begin the sparse and lean feeling of Lent.

Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18th services will be held at Lord of Life and Christ Lutheran Church

11:00 a.m. worship will be held at Lord of Life

7:00 p.m. worship will be held at Christ Lutheran

Wednesday Bible/Book Study/Lenten services will all be held at Lord of Life.

10:00 a.m. Study and coffee and treats

11:00 a.m. Short worship service with communion that will take place following the study.

6:00 p.m. Study with soup and bread supper.

7:00 p.m. Holden Evening prayer service.

Dates for study/services are-Wednesdays Feb. 25; March 4, 11, 18, 25.

All of the study/services provide opportunities for those who do not want to be out in the evening/darkness to attend early and for those who work to attend an evening service.

Lord of Life provides a welcoming and safe place for worship, comfort, solace, and reflection.  We are called by Jesus to love God and one another: to practice radical hospitality, and to serve all without reservation, stipulations or regard to your race, ethnic background, age, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities, socioeconomic position, family status, or where you are in your faith journey. You are a unique and beloved child of God. We welcome you to join us in worship and communion and be part of our commitment to anti-racism, social and economic justice and environmental care.
